Important Information for Mentors Regarding Transportation and Safety

Thank you for your commitment to supporting and guiding our youth. As part of your role, you may be asked to provide transportation for your mentee(s) to and from sessions.

Please read the following important points to ensure both your safety and that of the young people you mentor.

* Business Insurance Requirement:
If you are planning to give your mentee a lift, it is your responsibility to ensure you have appropriate business insurance coverage. Standard car insurance policies do not always cover the transportation of individuals for work-related purposes, including volunteering or mentoring. Therefore, please confirm with your insurance provider that your policy covers transporting a mentee.

* Vehicle Roadworthiness:
As a mentor, it is your responsibility to ensure that your vehicle is roadworthy and meets all legal safety requirements. Regular maintenance and checks should be carried out to confirm the car is in good working condition. Additionally, the vehicle must be free of any harmful or dangerous items that could pose a risk to your mentee's safety during transportation.

* Use of Cameras for Additional Safety:
While transporting a mentee, we strongly advise that you consider installing cameras in your vehicle. This is a precautionary measure to avoid any potential misunderstandings or issues that may arise during transportation. Cameras can provide important documentation in case of any disputes or incidents, ensuring the safety and well-being of both the mentor and mentee.

We are committed to ensuring a safe and secure environment for both mentors and mentees, and these steps are crucial to maintaining that safety.
